The average European must freak out the first time he or she orders a large beverage from an American fast food restaraunt. A large drink will typically be either 32 or 44 ounces (about 1 and 1.3 liters respectively).
The reason I belive this is because I freaked out the first time I ordered a beverage from a resaraunt in Beligum. I was give an 0.2 liter (6.7 ounces) BOTTLE ...made of GLASS! I could have drank it in one swig. Having a glass bottle was a nice touch though. I rarely see those in America anymore (and if I did, it would probably be a 12 or 16 ounce bottle).
Good grief! What would happen if I one of them tried to drink one of the gargantuan 64 ounce monsters that lurk in all of our gas stations?
And there exists a slight dichotomy: All of the people drinking beer around me were drinking 0.5 or 1.0 liter portions.
Hmmm.
