Tagfriendly Status

Tagfriendly has undergone several revisions. First, I stopped working on it; there were many other things going on and I didn't have the time for it. Then I decided that the UI utterly stank. REWRITE!

Those of you who have stumbled upon the Gary Dusbabek UI Experience know what I am talking about. I am in the middle of trying something new now. Doing that required building the music indices a bit differently, and that always takes a few days. Thankfully, I didn't have to reload the data.

The UI I use now is (hopefully) better. I've taken the wizard approach: "Your Mp3s have no tags. Would like to A? B? or C?" It's more flexible, and development is going a bit faster. I've also decided to integrate the HTML version more closely to the thick client version. That is, you will be able to do most queries using a browser or the thick client. Of course, you won't be able to rewrite your ID3s via a browser.

We'll see how many more months it takes to get something out that doesn't embarass me too much. Keep in mind that I'm lucky if I get two hours a day to work on this.

P.S. take a look at Java ID3 when you get a chance!
